Wearing your hair loose in the summer heat is like sacrificing your lengths to the sun. Avoid scorched tresses and frizzy strands by sweeping your hair up off of your neck. With a braided topknot or ballet bun you will look both fashion forward and the up-do will also serve to keep you cool.

How To Master the Braided Bun:
Pull your hair up into a high ponytail and secure in place with a snag-free elastic band. At this point it is a good idea to spritz your hair with hairspray to ensure that there are no fly-aways. This look looks most polished when it is neat.

Start to braid your ponytail by parting it into three sections and weaving each section from the outside in; first from the right and then the left and so on.

Once you have reached an inch from the tip of you hair, secure with an elastic band.
Begin to wind your hair clockwise around the base of your ponytail, securing with bobby pins as you go.

When you come to the end of your braided ponytail, tuck the straight ends of your hair well out of sight and pin securely.

Finish with a final spritz of hairspray. You could always add a hairband or printed scarf to complete the look depending on your mood.
