Just ahead of the Matthew Williamson Spring 2015 show at London Fashion Week, the main man himself, Mr. Williamson, posted a glimpse of his beauty mood board on his Instagram account. With flirty flashes of color as the key thread, we knew we were in for a pantone treat. Keeping in mind the designer’s kaleidoscopic prints, makeup artist, Charlotte Tilbury, conjured up an electric shade of violet for a soft smoky effect.
Purple creates a subtle warmth and works beautifully to showcase every eye color. “There’s a slight nod to the seventies,” Tilbury told our London reporter, Suzanne Scott. “But it is more glamorous, fresh, and modern-looking with this pinky-purple shape on the eyes.”

To create the sweep of hibiscus-inspired color over the lids, Tilbury blended together the Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in Always A Bridesmaid and Holy Smokes. No harsh lines or masses of false lashes in sight meant that the metallic, hazy color took center stage. The dewy skin was courtesy of Tilbury’s own blend of Magic Cream, followed by a helping of the Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation. The Benefit Girl Meets Pearl and Watt’s Up highlighters ensured that the spotlights bounced off the contours of the models’ faces as they took to the runway.
The bohemian hair, that we associate with the Williamson girl was crafted by hairstylist, Mark Hampton, who used the Toni & Guy Prep Mousse, followed by a curling iron to create the wave and a final blast of the hairdryer to loosen the curls and keep the hair moving.
Nails were painted a soft greige (grey and beige) tone courtesy of Nails Inc. All in all, with the yards of printed chiffon in tow, the look was very 1970s’ Palm Springs, indeed.
