The Shiny Makeup Move for Sleep-Deprived Eyes

I’ve seen a lot of glow-y faces this season…and not just on the runway. The crowds’ complexions at yesterday’s steamy Alexander Wang show were as dewy as those on the catwalk. While the driving force behind this luminescent trend has been face painter Diane Kendal, Mother Nature is also making a case for radiance. And the makeup movement continued today at Thakoon—despite the significant drop in humidity. Inspired by the sheen captured in many of Herb Ritts’ photos as well as the tropics (a region Manhattan may as well have been a part of the past few days), Kendal used a combination of NARS The Multiple in South Beach on the apples of the cheeks topped with Illuminator in Orgasm. The pro pushed the shine factor even further by glazing a clear gloss over lids and up into the brows. “He wanted the girls to look as if they’d just come out of a swimming pool,” she explained of the designer’s vision. To get glistening fast, dab a small amount of Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream on bare lids. “What’s quite nice is that it emphasizes any natural discoloration underneath, so it almost looks as if you’re wearing a bit of shadow,” she noted. Consider gloss your new secret weapon for making most of sleep-deprived eyes during NYFW.
