Beauty Sound Bites: Stephanie Seymour for Estée Lauder

Supermodel Stephanie Seymour is hitting the headlines again. But, before you ask, this time it’s not for her altogether risqué and fashion/erotica photo shoot with her two sons, Peter and Harry Brant. Rather, she is rejoining the beauty books, this time as the latest global spokesmodel for Estée Lauder.

It was after gracing the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine that Seymour’s modeling career first snowballed, with countless editorials for leading fashion publications and notable support from photographer Richard Avedon and longtime friend and fashion designer Azzedine Alaïa. Seymour is a former face of brands including Dior, Valentino, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Revlon, and L’Oréal, to name a few. She was also one of the first Victoria’s Secret Angels; perhaps it was this, along with her editorials in both Sports Illustrated and Playboy, that caught the attention of her rock-and-roll boyfriends: guitarist Tommy Andrews and Guns ‘N Roses leading man, Axl Rose.

Every perm-haired and shoulder pad toting teenager in the 80s should certainly recall the iconic image of Stephanie Seymour as the pinup bride in the Guns N’ Roses November Rain music video. Now married to art empresario Peter Brant with four children in tow, Seymour is an avid art collector and owns a vast collection of vintage couture. Yet it is her latest accomplishment that might make her mother most proud, as Seymour muses, “As a young girl my mother had a dream for me and that was to be an Estée Lauder model. So this is truly a dream fulfilled.”
