How to Warm Up Winter Skin

There’s only so tan you can make yourself if you haven’t been in the sun—it just looks like you have a lot of makeup on,” said Gucci Westman backstage at Stella McCartney’s Pre-Fall ’15 presentation. With fog and rain descending heavily upon Manhattan yesterday, it was safe to say that the majority of models in the room didn’t come in with the healthy glow they sported as they tried their hand at Ping-Pong or a round of mini golf. The secret to making the most of your pallor, Westman explained, is not to fight it, but to add contrast. In lieu of rosy blush or a ton of bronzer, she suggests reaching for a “tawny, ’70s brown” cream. (We like Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Brazilian Tan or Mink.) “Faye Dunaway would rock this kind of color,” she noted. The finishing touch: Freckles gently dotted across the bridge of the nose with a coffee-colored liner pencil and highlighter swathed strategically across the high planes of the face.
