“I want to be the iPhone of makeup.”
—Terry De Gunzburg
Terry De Gunzburg is a self-confessed beauty aficionado. De Gunzberg started her career in 1975 as a makeup artist on shoots with the likes of David Bailey, Helmut Newton, and Guy Bourdin. As a freelance artist, she painted to perfection some of the worlds’ most beautiful faces, “I worked with Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, and Catherine Deneuve—all of them.” Forging ahead to earn her beauty stripes, De Gunzburg was then appointed as Creative Director for YSL Beauté.
“From YSL, I learned not only the essence of how to anticipate women’s needs, but to create unexpected textures and formulas.” That, she did. After seven years at the brand, she launched the infamous YSL Touche Éclat: a dual-purpose highlighter and concealer, presented in its iconic gold wand, designed to conceal a multitude of late nights in one sweep under the eyes. For this, she won a legion of loyal fans for the brand.
Fuelled by her passion for beauty, she went on to found her own beauty line, By Terry, The brand is a high-end collection of makeup and skincare, the most notable of which is her By Terry Baume De Rose lip balm, an s.o.s product created to nourish even the most dehydrated lips.
The product’s concoction of Vitamin E, rose flower essential wax, and pastel oil turns parched prune-like pouts into full and gleaming look-at-me-lips in just one application.
“From my own line, I use By Terry Crème de Rose and Baume de Rose. I work very closely with my lab to create products that not only smell nice but also are good for the skin. I love the versatility of Baume de Rose, in particular; you can use it on lips and cuticles and it is extremely nourishing.” The formula also contains SPF15, so your lips will be protected from harmful UV rays, while a delicate scent of roses will make the application of this lip balm a pleasure.
