Tan in a Tube

1268190_fpxWith beach season drawing to a close, and driven by a ghostly-pale complexion and festive invitations flooding my inbox, I broke the Beauty Editor rule and went on a sun bed. Only now I wish I hadn’t, as ten minutes in the UV light box left me red-faced (literally) and full of remorse—not to mention frightened by the scent of singed skin that followed me around all day.

Still in search of that healthy, golden, lit-from-within skin (this time without the fear of harmful UV rays), I turned to the Sisley Self Tanning Hydrating Facial Skincare, a self-tanner formulated just for the face. Enriched with lavender oil to soothe, and geranium oil to tone, this lotion goes on just like moisturizer, and you can even apply your makeup over it. After two hours of developing time, a golden gleam to the skin starts to emerge. By lunchtime, my skin appears naturally sun-kissed with no hint of an orange streak.

This formula tops my list of skin transformers because it gives a Mediterranean glow that brightens the face, rather than a dark earthy tan that can seemingly add years to your age.  Plus, the subtle fragrance works well to hide that instantly identifiable false tan scent.

How to apply?

Sweep the formula over just cleansed skin, applying to the neck and décolletage as you wish. The most important thing to remember with self tanners is to avoid the eyebrows. And for a seamless blend at your hairline, just blend the product with a little bit of your moisturizer. Lastly, wash your hands thoroughly as nothing’s more hideous than bionic orange palms.
