Prior to today, it was all about dewy skin; soft, smoky eyes; rumpled waves; or slicked-back ponytails, but Day 6 brought us to new extremes. This morning at Rodarte, editors were met with multiple brow piercings crafted by makeup maestro James Kaliardos. “Some girls are really getting pierced and we’re using strong anesthetics and they’re going to be a bit high when they’re walking,” he quipped. In reality, no needles or new holes were made backstage—instead, silver C-shaped rings were dipped in clear glue and precisely placed with tweezers along models’ arches. “The rings are more of a facial accessory than a punk statement,” he emphasized of the “cool girl” the designers had in mind this season. To bring light to the eyes, Kaliardos dusted NARS’ St-Paul-De-Vence eyeshadow duo (out for Spring 2015) across lids, rimmed the waterline with beige pencil, and ran a gold powder from the Dual-Intensity Blush compact in Jubilation along the lower lashes. Nails were equally as edgy: Manicurist Tracylee painted fingers with one coat of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Dark Denim (available in March), then used a cotton pad soaked in remover to wipe it off—leaving a solid stripe along the cuticle. “It’s meant to look like when the ocean pulls away from the sand,” she explained.

Later in the afternoon at Marc by Marc Jacobs, Guido Palau took Fall’s badass braids to a new place: “She’s the same girl, but she’s gone to a rave now—she’s gone into dance mode.” To lend hair a “mohawk-y feel without being too [severe],” the pro used Redken Wind Blown 05 Dry Texturizing Spray to give strands grip (“If hair is too clean, the knot will slip-slide around,” he said); devised four rough sections and ponytails at the crown; twisted the hair onto itself to form “Bjork-like” knots; and secured with fine pins. “Nothing is perfect—a little tuft is left out in the front so it feels more punky and innocent,” he noted. Before catwalkers hit the runway accented by neon lights, Palau sprayed a bit of Evian water along the hairline to give them a “slightly sweaty feel so you think they might have been in a nightclub.” In any case, if you plan on raging through the rest of fashion month, today’s looks provided plenty of beauty inspiration.
