Whenever anyone debuts a set of fringe, it’s hard to get the image of Legally Blonde’s Serena (Elle Woods’ brunette BFF) exclaiming, “I got bangs! My hair is so now” out of my mind. Serena’s words must have been prophetic, seeing as the look is still just as hot on the red carpet and Fall ’15 runways as it was in 2001 when the film made its debut. At the iHeartRadio Music Awards, Rihanna rocked blunt bangs while performing her new single “Bitch Better Have My Money”—appropriately clad in dollar-bill green boots and matching choker by Versace. Taylor Swift took the stage with Madonna with noticeably thicker fringe and a rocker-style shag (reminiscent of catwalkers like Mica Arganaraz and Antonina Petkovik). And on Instagram, Lady Gaga snapped a selfie with a fresh set of black micro bangs. To see a chop in progress, look no further than “hair artist” Ryoji Imaizumi’s time-lapse videos, in which he snips in unique sets of eyebrow-grazing strands on two models. The only word that can properly capture how we feel about all the aforementioned examples? Bangin’.
