The Holy Month of Ramadan is fast approaching, and your daily intake of food and fluids is about to change dramatically. One of the downsides to fasting is that it can leave your skin looking lack-luster and dull. Along with the summer heat, the absence of regular hydration can leave skin pale and lips excessively dry.

Fortunately, by making sure that your body receives the right nutrients at Iftar and Suhoor—and by switching up your beauty routine—you can stay radiant all throughout the blessed season. Read on for our tips to get you through the Holy Month, and consider your Ramadan skincare routine sorted.

1.Drink as much water as you can during Suhoor and Iftar. A minimum of 8 glasses is recommended. Not only will this help retain your skin’s vitality, but it will also help you stay hydrated the following day.

2.Try to eat plenty of fresh foods such as salads and vegetables as well as grilled meats and chicken during Iftar. Avoid eating fatty, fried, and heavy foods. Sticking to healthier options will ensure your skin stays glowing and spot-free.

3.Opt for fruits such as strawberries and blueberries. They are high in antioxidants and are known for their positive effects on skin. Dates are also a great source of antioxidants, vitamin A, iron, potassium, calcium, and magnesium—all of which promote optimum skin health.

4.Swap your daily cleanser for one that is richer, creamier, and more conditioning to help ensure that your skin doesn’t dry out. We recommend the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Rich Cream Cleanser (US $32; AED/SAR 117), which is formulated with rich emollients, avocado, jojoba, and grape seed oils that leave the skin feeling soft.

5.Try adding vitamin C to your skincare routine. Not only does it instill essential moisture, but it also soothes and calms tired skin. The Murad Essential-C Night Moisture (US $65; AED/SAR 238) is a great option as it supports natural rejuvenation and the restoration of stressed skin by aiding natural cell turnover and neutralizing daily toxins.

6.Give the area around your eyes special care. Use nourishing creams and apply with your fingertips in a gentle, circular motion. For an added boost, keep your eye cream in the fridge as a cold application helps tighten blood vessels and prevents puffiness and dark circles.

7.Avoid lipsticks—particularly matte ones—as they can dry out your lips. Opt for lip balms that contain vitamin E, and look for ingredients such as honey and cocoa butter.
