An Easy Way to Upgrade Your Gym Ponytail From Prada

Miuccia Prada’s Fall ’15 menswear and Pre-Fall womenswear collections were defined aesthetically by the same three words: “Uniform, severe, and elegant.” The beauty looks, however, varied between the sexes.

Backstage fixture Guido Palau provided the boys with tailored haircuts, while the ladies were treated to puffed-up side ponytails with a “nod” to the early ’80s. “The inspiration was the girl you see in a nightclub and want to be,” he explained. (With Body Reboot in full swing here on, we took one look at this party pony and immediately wanted to take it for a spin on both the dance floor and the treadmill.)

To get the look, the mane master applied Redken Guts 10 Volume Spray Foam and blow-dried models’ heads upside down. Next, the length was pulled high and tight and tied off with an elastic. Then the tail was swept to one side and secured with a sleek black barrette (a quick trick for keeping hair in place during a high-intensity workout). Hairspray and an additional dollop of Guts were glazed over top for a “sweaty” finish—though burning a few calories is sure to provide a similar effect.
