The beauty industry, as we know, is a rather insular one, with a handful of the world’s leading artistes clambering for the best titles to elevate their beauty status. And the breaking news that makeup artist Peter Philips has been appointed as the Creative and Image Director of Christian Dior Makeup is making serious beauty waves in the industry. Last year saw the end of Philips’ reign as the Creative Director of Makeup for Chanel, where he was the pride and joy behind their lust worthy, seasonal color collections. As of late, Philips has worked on the Fendi and Dries Van Noten Fall 2014 campaigns, and will now work alongside Dior’s Creative Director, Raf Simons.
As early as 2012, Style.com hinted that it would only be a matter of time until both Simons and Philips paired up, stating that “over the past two decades, Simons has been loyal to friend, countryman, and collaborator Peter Philips.” Ever since the Galliano era, Pat McGrath has been the face painter of choice backstage for Christian Dior, even working on the Christian Dior Fall 2014 show just days ago. With Simons and Philips now at the head of Dior, we expect nothing short of exquisite results.
