What happens when technology and vanity meet? If you guessed a genius app that helps you find the best foundation shade for your skin tone, you are correct. Ariel Zborowski, the co-founder and CEO of the beauty and tech company, Melange, launched a new app earlier this week called Melange Beauty that allows you to find a foundation that matches your skin color by simply taking a selfie.
Zborowski revealed that they surveyed 1,000 women and found that one in three foundation wearers mix two or more products to get the right color. “We wanted to give women the perfect shade by using something they do everyday: take selfies,” she said.
To use the app, you must request a color card from the company’s website to keep next to your face when you take the selfie. The color card allows you to take your selfie in any lighting and environment. The app then detects the shade that matches your skin tone and gives you an option to choose your desired coverage. Since you can’t always be sure how well a product works without testing it, Melange will send you free samples of five different foundation shades. After you have tried all the samples and decided on the one that works best for you, you can go back to the app and purchase the paraben-free product for US $40 (AED/SAR 147).
Although it may seem like a lengthy process, it can be extremely useful for those who struggle to find a foundation in their color.
