Go Behind the Scenes of Sofia Coppola’s Marc Jacobs Daisy Campaign

Things have come full circle for director and bestie to Marc Jacobs, Sofia Coppola. She was the face of the designer’s first eponymous perfume and now she’s positioning herself on the other side of the camera to lens the latest commercial spot for Daisy (a scent that became an instant classic when it debuted in 2007, and became a veritable collection with the addition of Eau So Fresh in 2011 and Dream this year). Similar to Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides, the sweetness of models Ondria Hardin, Antonia Wesseloh, Sophia Ahrens, and Malaika Firth frolicking through the German countryside is underscored by a mood that’s a bit more sinister. For the original Daisy starring Hardin, the camera is meant to act as her “boyfriend” following her through the field, while the catwalkers making daisy chains together and tiptoeing through streams feels almost as if the girls “snuck out of their boarding school” to partake in a “lazy afternoon.” Here, go behind the scenes of the new campaign and get an exclusive first look at the TV spot.
