What’s old is new again. While fashion is enjoyed by women of all ages, there’s always been something of a disconnect between the teenage models parading down the runways (not to mention pretty young starlets borrowing designer looks) and the real, sophisticated women who actually buy and wear the clothes. Alber Elbaz has always appreciated mature beauties. None other than Violetta Sanchez—a muse to Helmut Newton in the ’80s—opened his Lanvin show today, which also featured a bevy of other catwalk veterans in their thirties and forties, including: Kirsten Owen (43), Amber Valletta (40), Esther de Jong (40), Malgosia Bela (37), Anne-Catherine Lacroix (36), and Audrey Marnay (33). Sashaying alongside girls young enough to be their daughters, they captured the elegance of the clothes beautifully. Without a doubt, Lanvin’s multigenerational cast was one of the best we’ve seen for Spring ’15. For further proof that seasoned models are having a moment, look no further than 44-year-old Naomi Campbell working it (Kendall who?) at Diane von Furstenberg and Emilio Pucci.
