Did Kylie Jenner Call the Color of the Year?

When Pantone announced Marsala as its pick for Color of the Year, we were instantly reminded of an Italian restaurant…and Kylie Jenner’s lips at the American Music Awards. While the Kardashian clan certainly knows how to start a trend—contouring, glossy blow-outs, lush lashes, and plumped-up pouts, anyone?—is it possible that the youngest sister had an impact on the authority of all things shade related? The answer remains at large, but regardless, the reality personality was definitely onto something—the rich, red-brown hue instantly warms up your skin tone in a single swipe. Two other top Marsala moments from the red carpet: Elle Fanning’s wine-stained lips and cheeks and Zoë Kravitz’s oxblood eyes at this year’s Met Gala. As one of our Style.com staffers so wittily noted, we’re all for trying the Color of the Year in nail polish and lipstick form, but we’ll be referring to it as burgundy. Let’s be honest, nobody wants to wear something that can also be slathered over chicken at the Olive Garden.
