The Trick
Kiehl’s has long been at the top of the skincare league. The brand’s cult products, such as Crème de Corps and the Dermatologist’s Solutions, regularly feature on the most wanted lists of beauty professionals and general consumers alike. Rather surprisingly, and unlike many prestige brands, Kiehl’s has been slow to hop on the BB cream bandwagon.
Staying true to its own product development philosophy of taking “the time to develop the formula with skincare in mind, first and foremost”, Kiehl’s has finally released its first BB cream: Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream with SPF 50. Kiehl’s chemists worked on combing high concentrations of vitamin C with natural mineral pigments and high sun protection while maintaining a lightweight, moisturizing texture that improves the smoothness and luminosity of skin and reduces the appearance of imperfections and fine lines. It comes in three shades, which are all non-comedogenic (it won’t block your pores), fragrance-free, paraben-free, and allergy tested for sensitive skin.
The Tip
Although BB cream has skin nourishing and protecting qualities, it is not a substitute for moisturizer. After cleansing, continue with your regular skincare routine and then apply your BB cream, as you may find that without your serum and moisturizer, your skin will tighten and dry out.
To apply the BB cream, dot a small amount onto the forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin, and use a light patting motion to blend into the skin. Avoid dragging and sweeping actions as these can cause fine lines and sagging.
