The ponytail will forever be a beauty staple, with undone, nape-grazing iterations making appearances on Spring 2015 runways like Gucci and Giambattista Valli. Since ease was a term that was thrown around a lot backstage this season, there’s no better real-world example than Karolina Kurkova’s look at last night’s IWC Schaffhausen Art Basel event in Miami. Hairstylist Bryce Scarlett raked Leonor Greyl Mousse Au Lotus Volumatrice through the model’s strands before crafting soft waves and brushing them out. The length was then gathered low at the neck and secured by slipping a clear elastic over top, but “not doubled up,” noted the pro—keeping the tail in place but not taut. A styling cream was glazed onto the ends to smooth any flyaways or split ends. While the catwalker paired this pony with a tan and a crop top, we think this unfussy, two-second trick would look just as good with a turtleneck.
