The wait is over. The much-anticipated launch of Karl Lagerfeld Parfums has arrived, complete with monochrome Karl-embossed packaging, and fittingly with its own hashtag (#karlparfums) in tow. After the huge “Chanel Shopping Centre” fashion spectacle of last week for the Chanel Fall 2014 collection (which saw editors and A-listers turn out in droves), Lagerfeld unveiled his pair of scents (for him and for her) last night at the Palais Brogniart in Paris. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Lagerfeld photographed and filmed the campaign himself.
What can we expect from the fragrances?
For her:
Noses Christine Nagel and Serge Majoullier worked together to create a green floral eau de parfum for women, with notes of lemon, peach, rose, and magnolia giving way to hints of amber, musk, and a woody accord.
For him:
Perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault crafted the eau de toilette for men, with notes of lavender, mandarin, apple, and violet anchored by heady base notes of sandalwood and amber. As Lagerfeld puts it, this is “fashion for the nose.”
With Lagerfeld adamant that “fragrance is as important as a piece of clothing,” it will be interesting to see how his long track record of fashion success translates to the fragrance world.
