Lebanese TV show host and entrepreneur Joelle Mardinian got some implants recently—eyebrow implants, to be specific. The 37-year-old decided to undergo an eyebrow transplant surgery at her clinic, Clinica Joelle, for fuller and more natural brows.
This procedure is meant for women who have tweezed their eyebrows beyond repair and are desperately seeking a thicker set of brows. Over plucking or waxing your eyebrows can permanently damage the follicle and lead to thinning or in some cases, virtually no eyebrows. Hair transplants offer a more permanent solution to patchy brows as compared to pencils and brow gels.
To begin the process, Mardinian (or her doctor) created a stencil of her ideal eyebrows as a guide. The procedure did not require a donor of any sort; a licensed technician removed hair from the back of her scalp and grafted it to her eyebrows via a fine needle.
The procedure is surgical, so sedatives are prescribed to numb the pain. In the video, Mardinian admits that she’s too excited to let the sedatives have an effect on her.
It usually takes about one week for the swelling and scabbing to subside. It’s important to note that the hair in the new brows grow at the same rate as the tresses on your head (meaning that your eyebrows could grow as long as your hair), so they must be trimmed regularly.
Following the procedure, you can toss away your brow pencils for good; eyebrow implants result in a set of thicker, darker, and natural-looking brows that won’t require filling in.
