There comes a time when we know that we have to grow up. For J.W.Anderson, that day was today.  L’Oréal Professionnel’s styling ambassador Anthony Turner said, “If I’m honest, this is my favorite J.W. collection ever. She feels like a woman; she’s groomed and minimal, a little Parisian even.” This sophisticated feeling translated to a super-sleek and neat low ponytail. “I wanted to avoid any personality in the hair,” explained Turner. “I wanted it to look almost unnaturally perfect. J.W. told me [the collection is about] the kind of woman who spends a lot of time on her hair, and I agree, she’s very considered and there’s no room for mistakes.” He combined L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Full Volume Extra Mousse with Tecni.Art Pli for hold, blew strands dry, and used a bristle brush to gather the length into a low pony. Allowing zero room for error, Mythic Oil (a cross between an oil and serum) was applied to the tail to keep it together and impart some shine, while a liberal misting of Infinium Hairspray tamed any would-be flyaways.

Over in makeup, this vision of perfection was amplified by face painter Aaron de Mey, who crafted a “super-polished, very aristocratic face with barely any makeup.” His reasoning? “The girls are very close to the audience in this show. I don’t want people to see foundation, just perfection.” MAC Lightful Softening Lotion was buffed over models’ complexions with a makeup brush to boost hydration, and a touch of concealer was applied under the eyes. To finish, a thin layer of Prep + Prime Skin Refined Zone was applied over the forehead, nose, and chin. “My main aim here is to keep out shine,” explained De Mey, “Shine is sexy, which is not what I want. Everything should be matte and look like velvet.” Lashes were left completely bare and uncurled, and lips took only a light tapping of balm. If this is what it means (and looks like) to be a grown-up, then sign us up.
