Hair is a great retainer of scent and holds onto a fragrance far longer than the skin. As we’ve all been advised, fragrance is best spritzed onto our pulse points, which are warm and will effectively help permeate the fragrance—so, in theory, where better to spray perfume than on your head? It is, after all, the escape route for the majority of heat from the body.
With this in mind, Herra Hair Care has launched a hair perfume that aims to not only leave your locks smelling sweet, but also work to protect your hair at the same time. Founder James Davis added sunflower and olive extracts to the formula to help combat the damage of UV rays, pollution, and free radicals. The hair stylist tells me, “In the midday sun, everybody wears an SPF to protect their skin, so why wouldn’t they take ten seconds to protect their hair?” He then pointed out how the humidity gives our hair that frizziness that we all desperately try to fight, to show just how important it is to protect our precious strands.
When I tried and tested the product in the confines of the office, other colleagues came running to the beauty desk, wanting to try for themselves. The scent itself is rather heavy, but I fathom that it has to pack a bit of a punch in order to help disguise the odors that come from the daily grind.
But the question remains: do we really need to add another item to our already bulging beauty cabinets? Well, this one may just save you valuable minutes in the morning, spritzed on as you run out the door. And, personally, I like the idea of leaving a trail of perfume lingering every time I flick my hair—don’t you?
