Yesterday in Paris, international press gathered in a secluded gallery tucked in the trendy Marais neighborhood to take part in the launch of Givenchy’s Spring/Summer 2015 line, “Colorecreation.” Nicolas Degennes, Le Makeup’s artistic director, was on hand to take us through the labyrinth of rooms featuring a slew of crayons, polishes, and eye shadows in color pop shades. We asked Degennes, who notably just signed on for another three years with the Maison, in his many years of experience, what he considered to be the biggest mistake women made with regards to makeup. Degennes responded, “Sadly, the biggest mistake women make is not applying any makeup at all. To me, a woman who does not apply makeup is one who has forgotten herself and has forgotten the society in which she lives and her role in it. I have always believed that beauty can change the world—and remember, use color!”
Key products launched with the Spring 2015 Colorecreation line include limited edition Color Kajal crayons in Vert Invention No. 1, Turquoise Imagination No. 2, and Violet Création No. 3; the Le Prisme Visage Color Confetti powder that promises to help stomp out signs of fatigue; and the limited edition Le Vernis Givenchy Jaune Expression N. 24 nail varnish, a matte citrus polish. Following the presentation, which was also attended by the ethereal Givenchy muse and face, Mariacarla Boscono, editors and journalists sipped fresh raspberry juice and lunched on foie gras. The launch simultaneously celebrated 10 years of the iconic Givenchy Le Makeup line, which has notably introduced the Prisme Libre matte powder, Le Rouge Givenchy velvety lipsticks, the Noir Couture and Phenomen’Eyes mascaras—whose spherical brushes have become a worldwide success, and the long-lasting creamy Ombre Couture eyeshadows to the global beauty sphere.
