“Think of serpents slithering in the desert through the sand and how the light reflects off their skin.”

—Vimi Joshi, M.A.C Senior Artist for the Middle East

At the Dany Tabet Spring 2015 show, the models’ eyelids were sectioned into three horizontal stripes to give them a snake-like quality. On the innermost and outermost sections, the M.A.C Eye Shadow in Carbon was used for its intense matte black pigment, while in the center section, the M.A.C Eye Shadow in Amber Lights gave a reflective, burnished-copper glow. To intensify the metallic pigment, a dabbing of taupe-colored gloss was used to give a flash of mirror-like shine every time the models blinked.

For a severely contoured cheek, the M.A.C Powder Blush in Peaches was buffed onto the cheeks to create an angular look to the models’ faces. And as with all intensely edgy sets of eyes, the best counterpart for the look was a nude mouth. Interestingly enough, the fastest way to a nude lip isn’t actually to not put any color on the pout at all. Instead, the M.A.C Lip Eraser was swept over the mouth to take away any existing pigment. With models’ hair pulled back in a series of twisting, miniature braids tucked into a neat updo, the snake-like quality was kept more modern than medusa-esque.
