It would appear that there are new face-sculpting methods (see: baking, strobingtontouring) and tools added to the contouring craze every week.  Beauty company Esteé Lauder took a more scientific approach to the face-sculpting trend and recently introduced two new skincare products to its New Dimension line that are dedicated to defining and hallowing our features. The collection includes the New Dimension Shape + Fill Expert Serum (US $89; AED/SAR 327) and an Expert Liquid Tape (US $70; AED/SAR 257).

The serum, which Esteé Lauder describes as a breakthrough, aims to contour our facial shape by improving the volume of our cheeks and jawline. It pumps out a brew of volume-boosting ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, lipids, and fillagrin that aim to hydrate the skin, and make it plumper. I use this product at night after cleansing and before my night cream. Following just a week of use, I noticed that my cheeks looked fuller and overall, my face was significantly less gaunt.

The Expert Liquid Tape comes in a baby blue tube with a needle-nose pointer that releases products when twisted. This formula is a sculpting treatment that was fashioned after an old Hollywood cosmetic technique; stars would stick a few strips of extra-strength tape on the points of their face that they wanted it to appear more taut on set. This treatment aims to be the skincare equivalent by temporarily tightening, firming, and toning the areas of the face that you want to appear smoother.

While you can feel the tightening effects almost instantaneously, there are a few factors about this product that can make it inconvenient depending on one’s skincare regime. This product is intended to be applied directly to the skin after cleansing and prior to any moisturizers, primers, or makeup. Any product that follows after the Expert Liquid Tape must be dabbed on, to avoid breaking the seal that makes the skin tight.
