Fall 2013 runways were clearly inspired by tonight’s Met Gala theme, Punk: Chaos to Couture. While the movement rebuked materialistic and homogeneous codes of fashion, the Houses reinterpreted punk the high fashion way, including new treatments with hints of futurism that gave birth to what could be referred to as neo-punk couture. Following that trend, we explored what beauty has to offer to complete the look and turned to Chanel for its two new shades of opaque white and black nail polishes, Eastern and Western Light from The Honk Kong Limited Edition collection.
Neo-punk takes us to primary shades. Eastern Light is soft and creamy leaving an overall effect that makes it look sophisticated compared to other brighter shades of white available on the market. The application is easy and smooth and does not appear patchy and uneven thanks to the precision of the brush and consistency of Chanel Le Vernis.
Western Light operates the same way but the Black shade has hidden red and gold shimmer attenuating the hue into a very dark brown. While it lacks the sophisticated effect that Eastern Light provides, the application is still very satisfying.
Both nail polishes are fully opaque after the second coat and have high shine and long lasting properties with no chipping until after three days.
Wear both shades on short nails. Offset tanned skin with Eastern Light and to complement a refined cocktail attire, Western Light will be your shade of choice.
