Double Take: Recreate the Beauty Looks From Dior’s Spring 2016 Couture Show

Creative and Image Director for Dior makeup, Peter Philips, conceived two beauty looks for the Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring 2016 show on Monday in Paris. While most models sported black liner and nude lips, Philips paid tribute to Monsieur Dior by incorporating the designer’s old trick, “Coup de Trafalgar”—a burst of notice-me red to break up the long show and make the audience do a double take—and sent a small group of models down the runway with a ruby red pout.

The dual beauty looks showcased at Dior can take you from the office to a dinner party instantly with just a quick swipe of fire engine red. You can recreate the looks using the freshly launched Dior “Glowing Gardens” Spring 2016 makeup collection. The aptly named collection serves to commemorate the late designer by drawing inspiration from the flowers of the ethereal Granville garden at his childhood seaside villa that stimulated his inexhaustible inspiration and enthrallment with flowers.

Both makeup looks shared a luminous and pale complexion. To add some radiance to the skin, apply the Diorskin Nude Air Compact Powder (US $58; AED/SAR 213).

Philips added a slick of black liner to the upper eyelids and lash line. The look was completed with multiple coats of black mascara. For the second look, the makeup artist employed an iridescent eyeshadow and applied it over the entire eyelid. Use the light shade in the center of the 5-Couleurs Palette in Rose Garden (US $63; AED/SAR 231).

The lips in the first look were kept bare; a gentle swipe of the Dior 2-1 Fix and Conceal (US $39; AED/SAR 142) was applied to heighten the models’ natural lip color. For the second beauty look, Philips outlined the lips with a lip liner before applying a coat of fiery red lipstick. You can mimic the crimson pout with the Dior Rouge Lipstick in Pimpant (US $38; AED/SAR 140).

The complete limited edition Spring 2016 collection comprises a Dior Addict Lip Glow, Pomade, and Liner; 2 floral printed 5-Couleur Palettes; a shimmery, embossed Diorskin Nude Air Illuminating Powder and Diorblush; 4 pastel Vernis, Color & Contour Eyeshadow and Eyeliner duos, and Rouge Brilliants; 2 Rouge Dior lipsticks and Baumes; a Dior Addict It-Lash Mascara; and Diorshow Fusion Mono and Pro Liner.
