Following an event in Paris that we attended and reported on, Dior has just launched a new lip gloss-come-lipstick formula that transforms lips into a pout that really packs a punch. And if, like me, you get a thrill out of tongue-in-cheek packaging, then the Dior Addict Fluid Stick ought to be added to your wish list.
Encased in what looks like a perspex tube, the formula is encapsulated in what is outlined as a lipstick balancing on its tapered tip. Hidden inside is a wand immersed in a wet-look formula that glides over the lips to deliver a shot of vibrant color with a mirror-like finish.
I have a more sensitive pair of lips than most beauty savvy women I know, but throwing caution to the wind, I slicked on the Dior Addict Fluid Stick in 639 Artifice. It has a creamy texture infused with high-voltage color, and my lips were dressed in what can only be described as a gourmand, tangerine-tinted, strawberry glaze. My lips did not feel dry or chapped, and neither sticky nor suffocated.
For those of you familiar with the YSL Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain, another hybrid lip formula on the high-end beauty market, the difference with Dior’s latest offering is the patent texture you’re left with on the dry down. It takes an average pair of lips to an editorial level of cool—well done, Dior.
