I have been perfecting the art of applying eyeliner since the age of 12. I find that the key to a liner that lasts (a trick I learned from Pat McGrath) is to line the upper lash line with a sharp kohl pencil, before adding a layer of liquid liner over the top. Smokey eye fans will know that it is hard to find a kohl liner that is both jet black and stays in place. Some formulas tend to slide around the eyes, especially when temperatures start to soar, leaving you looking more panda-like than pretty.
Always on the lookout for a kohl pencil that won’t budge, I came across the Clarins Crayon Khôl Intense Line Pencil in Extreme Black (US $26; AED/SAR 95).
When I traced this kohl pencil on my top set of eyelashes, it glided on smoothly, leaving behind an inky-black liner. I didn’t need the addition of a liquid eyeliner over the top and when I checked its staying power after my ten-hour busy beauty day, it had not moved even a millimeter.
The only problem that I encountered with this intense black liner was that it needed a war paint-stripping eye makeup remover, such as the Lancôme Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover (US $29; AED/SAR 106), to come off at bedtime.
Remember to place the remover-soaked cotton pads gently over the eyes to loosen the makeup before wiping away, and never rub the delicate eye area—you’re only asking for premature wrinkles.
