Christian Louboutin revamped the beloved stiletto with the addition of his red sole. And as the story goes, he first experimented with a red nail polish to paint the sole of his creations, and this was the step that would eventually become his trademark. With avid fans and friends from Beyoncé to Blake Lively, the designer has now branched out to the world of beauty—not with a red lipstick, as many would speculate, but with a line of fierce-looking nail polish that is almost certain to make your eyes water, and that’s partly down to the steep US $50 price tag per pot. But will it be worth it? To be seen.
With a love of the surreal, Louboutin has collaborated with art house film director David Lynch to create a film for the ad campaign. With a Jetsons-spaceage vibe, the pretty glass polish is unveiled in a mystery land where they fly like spaceships—very kooky, and very Louboutin. See for yourself in the video below.
As we reported last week, the Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin Nail Color is set to launch in the Middle East this September. We imagine that these precious glass bottles, complete with their spikey handles, might cause a little fan fever in the beauty hall. In fact, such is the demand for this nail paint that customers are warned on the Saks Fifth Avenue website (where it is currently stocked) that they may only order six units every thirty days.
