Chopard’s Valentine Bouquet

“A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and a man cannot live without love.” –Max Muller

The Trick

Valentine’s day is just around the corner and in celebration, Chopard is dedicating its Happy Spirit fragrance line to that impossible, head-spinning, heart- turning thing that is—love.

Perhaps for the less subtle of lovers, the Happy Spirit Bouquet d’Amour can be the obvious token of affection. The pink, heart-shaped bottle is capped with two facetted stones, inspired by the House of Chopard’s (and most women’s) favored gem, the diamond. The introductory gift to show one’s undying love? Possibly.

The Tip

It’s useful to take a few things into consideration when buying a fragrance for someone else. Perfumes can generally be grouped into the following categories: floral, fruity/zesty, spicy/oriental, and woody/musky. The kind of fragrance your loved-one already uses should be your starting point in the gift buying process. Scents also consist of levels of “notes”. The top notes are usually the freshest and evaporate the quickest—for example, citrus or fruits. The heart notes make up the main body of the fragrance and give it character; these notes are often floral. Finally, the base notes add richness to the perfume; these are often woods or spices.

Most people normally spritz the tester card but this can be misleading. Perfume reacts to the skin’s warmth and acidity so always spray directly onto the body to fully appreciate the true smell.
