Phoebe Philo’s Fall ’15 collection was injected with a sense of playfulness by way of graphic zebra stripes, luxe fur pompoms, and blouses printed with illustrations of otters, foxes, and deer, oh my! And it appears that Shiseido’s artistic director, Dick Page, had just as much fun backstage—splashing lids with lashings of vibrant color, lips with cherry red lipstick, or, in the case of a few models, both. On the flip side, some catwalkers were sent down the runway relatively bare-faced. In other words, there was a look to suit every Céline woman (and every outfit, from breezy ribbon dress to buttoned-up duvet coat). Here, the pro provides his perspective:

“The look at Céline was based on beautiful, natural-looking skin. Most girls had quite bare faces. Some girls had boldly painted blue eyes, some had precise flat red lips, and a couple of girls had both. The look is really about individual style, so I did all the painted blue eyes myself. No powder or mascara was used. Guido [Palau] and I talked to Phoebe about eccentricity in general and PJ Harvey in particular. The blue used was Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color in Esmaralda and the lip was Make Up For Ever Flash Color Pot in Red.”
