#Blessed: Miranda Kerr’s Guide to Staying Sane

mirandakerr-escada

If you’re Miranda Kerr you’ve got a lot to be joyful about: At 31, the model-turned-mogul has graced some of the fashion world’s biggest runways (including Balenciaga, which she walked before, during, and “straight after” she was pregnant), created a successful natural skincare line (Kora Organics), and added “mama” to her résumé. On top of her personal and professional success are a current slew of campaigns (Reebok, H&M, Seven For All Mankind, and Clear), including Escada’s newest fragrance: Joyful, a blend of peony and sandalwood (the super’s favorite flower and scent). “There are so many moments in our lives where we can really experience joy, and one of those moments was captured with this woman walking through the park and seeing the merry-go-round and deciding to jump on—which is something not unlike I would do,” said Kerr of the perfume ad lensed by Nathaniel Goldberg on NYC’s Roosevelt Island. While the catwalker seems a bit busy to be breezily riding around on carousels, she shared the simple moments of bliss—whether that be “putting your feet in the grass,” “swimming in the ocean,” or “having a cup of tea”—that keep her balanced just in time for the Spring ’15 collections.

Mind: “There are so many songs that bring me joy, but there’s a song from Kundalini Yoga by [Snatam Kaur], it’s called the “Long Time Sun,” and it says: ‘May the long time sun shine upon you, all love surround you, and the pure light within you guide your way on.’ And for me, that’s a really special song. The first time I heard it, I was in Australia and it was during one of my first yoga classes and I thought, ‘Wow, this song just feels very nurturing and very loving,’ So I sung it to my son throughout my pregnancy, and now he loves that song so much.” [Editor’s note: Listen to this on repeat while curled up in the fetal position during fashion month.]

Body: “Take a little time for meditation—meditation really helps me. Stretching the body, doing yoga—it releases endorphins.” [Editor’s note: Clear a flooded and jet-lagged mind during European collections with hotel-room yoga. Bonus points if you listen to “Long Time Sun.”]

Soul: “My most joyful moment would have to be with my son. We have so many moments of joy. When I gave him a cuddle and he said, ‘Mama, that makes my heart feel so much better,’ and for a little 3-year-old to come out and say, ‘My heart feels so much better,’ it’s just so beautiful, and it’s just an incredible feeling.” [Editor’s note: Keep life in perspective from now through October.]
