Earlier in the week, we saw the likes of Ashleigh Good and Edie Campbell turn up backstage with freshly dyed black strands—a suggestion by Guido Palau, the pro who appears to be the angel of death when it comes to platinum for Fall ’15. Yet another catwalker, Esmeralda Seay-Reynolds (notorious for her white-hot hair), took to the runway with inky locks last night at Marc Jacobs. On the celebrity side of things, actress Nicola Peltz posted a pic to Instagram as a nearly black brunette. (The verdict is still out as to whether or not the change is permanent.) And at Jeremy Scott, blond bombshells like Gigi Hadid donned choppy black wigs brightened up with slicks of Blick acrylic paint that played off the twisted nursery prints and colorful tights in the collection. “I just wanted them to look like little girls got hold of them and not learned the rules of how to cut hair,” said Eugene Souleiman of the doll-like bobs inspired by a ’90s Karen Elson. Even better: The wigs only set the designer back $22.50 apiece (a steal in comparison with the $35K worth of extensions Souleiman employed backstage at Donna Karan). In other words, you can try on the trend without fully committing to black or blowing your budget.
