“When considering mascara, other than the conventional black, I always think that a rich brown looks softer in the daytime and depending on your eye color, a colored mascara can be wonderful.”
—Lucia Pieroni
Lucia Pieroni is a makeup artist with plenty of clout. As the Creative Director of Clé De Peau Beauté since 2004, she has countless runways and editorials under her beauty belt, not to mention she has painted the faces of some of the world’s most well known faces, including Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Aniston.
With bold lashes firmly in the beauty spotlight as we saw at Rochas, in the midst of the backstage beauty frenzy I asked leading makeup artist Pieroni to muse about her favorite mascaras.
Without hesitation, for jet-black lashes she cites the Clé De Peau Beauté Mascara Intégral, The Mascara. As for colored counterparts, the YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils in 05 Bourgogne is a “rich deep aubergine shade that makes both brown and green eyes pop.” And what color is best for blue-eyed belles? A deep bronze—but of course. Try the YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking in 03 Noir Bronze; this is a golden-flecked rich brown with serious va-va-voom lashes potential.
