Here in the beauty department, we believe that a quick swipe of the perfect red (or pink or coral or berry) can be a better mood-booster than popping a Xanax. And statement-making pouts continue to make a splash on the catwalk. At Armani Privé, makeup artist Linda Cantello coated lips with a shocking fuchsia, while an unapologetic cobalt pout made an appearance on male model John Whiles at Maison Margiela. For Fall ’15, Pat McGrath took inspiration from “faded roses” to craft the dark-yet-feminine mouth at Alexander McQueen. At 3.1 Phillip Lim, the ’90s reigned supreme, with Francelle Daly’s oxblood Dr. Martens serving as unlikely makeup motivation, manifesting themselves in the form of rich brick lips. Meanwhile, the Marc Jacobs woman was inspired by Diana Vreeland and walked the runway in a plum shade as bold as the legendary fashion editor’s bons mots.
