Beauty Sound Bites: Bangs

Emilio PucciDSC_5009.450x675An expertly styled set of bangs can be a powerful tool for framing your face. Think of beauties such as Kate Moss, Mia Farrow, and Jane Birkin, to name a few. Bangs play with the face’s proportions and can hide less desirable features (disguising a large forehead, for instance). They can also act as a quick anti-aging fix—a curtain to keep pesky frown lines from view.

Whether you are thinking of going short and elfin à la Audrey Hepburn or wish to channel the insouciance of Brigitte Bardot with blunt ends that rest atop your lashes, before going for the chop, you can come to grips with the look by trialing faux bangs.

Backstage at Emilio Pucci, hair maestro, Luigi Murenu, tailor-made bangs to frame the face of each model, by cutting bangs into hairpieces. He paired the look with long soft waves, describing his sixties-inspired bohemian look as very “now”.

Roux Fanci-Full Color Styling Mousse was spritzed over the hair to add a temporary tint of auburn, chocolate, or flaxen color. Lengths were then prepped with blasts of John Freida Refresh Dry Shampoo to add body and fixed with L’Oréal Elnett Hairspray. After the custom bangs were clipped into place, the final touch was a smoothing of the hair behind the ears with a helping of Kérastase Elixir Ultime Oleo Complex oil.
