Don’t Trek to the Gym Tonight: Do This Thigh and Ab Workout Instead

Sometimes it’s just too damn cold to make it to the gym. Instead of throwing in the towel, try these at-home exercises created by Nicole Winhoffer, new global trainer for Adidas and ambassador for Adidas by Stella McCartney. After getting through these exclusive thigh- and ab-tightening moves from Madonna’s former fitness guru, you’ve earned the right to kick up your slipper-clad feet and order in Seamless.

The move: Waist Slimming Twist

The target: “Tone your obliques, the bra fat area, and your thighs. Plus, get rid of love handles. You want the windmill effect with the arms, and you want to keep a rhythm that’s quick enough to get your heart rate up. It’s a perfect warm-up move and also a calorie blaster.”

The how-to:

Step 1: Start with legs wide. Turn in the right knee, then bend both knees. Touch the floor with the right hand. Open the left hand to the ceiling and tighten thighs.

Step 2: Quickly alternate between your right and left foot, jumping about two inches off the ground.

Step 3: End with bent knees, turning the left knee in, left hand on the floor, and right hand reaching to the ceiling. Open your chest. Complete 50 repetitions.

The move: The Lunge Snap

The target: “This tightens the skin behind the thighs, tones the lower abs, and builds your self-esteem.”

The how-to:

Step 1: Start with one foot behind you in a bent lunge. Make sure to keep thighs tight.

Step 2: Bring right leg to a bent high position in front of waist and pull tummy in tight.

Step 3: Extend leg straight to full extension. Snap that skin!

Step 4: Return to lunge. Repeat 32 times for each leg.
