Following yesterday’s Paris launch of the Spring 2015 Givenchy Le Makeup line (and its ten-year anniversary), Mariacarla Boscono, face of Givenchy and friend and muse of Riccardo Tisci, glides into the cozy lobby of Place des Voges’ hidden gem of a hotel, the Pavillion de la Reine. She is wearing a bohemian-styled white lace dress with long, billowing peasant sleeves and strappy sky-high black stilettos that add a further six inches to her lithe 5’10” frame. Her jet-black hair is parted in the middle and styled poker-straight, offering the Italian beauty a chiaroscuro contrast to her positively luminous skin. We sit down for a chat with Mariacarla to discover the model’s routine to maintaining her moonlit luminosity.
One month following Marialucas’ birth, I had to be on set. I was fat, totally cooked from the sun and the hormones—I was a mess. I was not ready beauty-wise or mentally to be on set at all. Nicolas Degennes (Givenchy’s Le Makeup Artistic Director) sent me a beauty package to follow and told me to get myself together—and I’ve followed the formula ever since.
It may look like I have fair skin, but I can also get pretty dark—after all, I live in Italy with my two-year-old daughter and she always wants to be outside. In the summertime, I can spend up to nine hours outdoors with her in 40°C heat, so I make sure to wear a cap and protect myself with a 100 SPF sunscreen mousse. It may sound extreme, but it is necessary.
Next, whenever I have a launch or an event, I take a sauna to cleanse my pores. Once inside, I do a scrub using baking soda or a Givenchy exfoliant (try the Givenchy Peel It Softly Gentle Exfoliating Massage).
Following this, I apply the luxurious Givenchy Le Soin Noir Masque Dentelle for some glamour.
Finally, I try and get a good night’s sleep, with the Givenchy Le Soin Noir cream (which contains Vital Black Algae Sap Concentrate, a potent anti-aging formula). Miracles don’t exist, but at least with this, I feel like I’ve done something.
