Models at the Gucci Spring 2017 ready-to-wear show looked as though they’d stepped out of a renaissance painting and onto the runway—thanks to their ethereal, pinned back braids. For Milan Fashion Week’s opening showcase, hairstylist Paul Hanlon created surreal coifs by winding sections of braids into beehive buns at the crown of models’ heads.
Some models were sent down the catwalk with alternative (yet equally enchanting) hairstyles that included puffy, crimped hair; brushed out waves underneath hot pink turbans; and flowing lengths secured with printed scarves. However, the models’ makeup was kept minimal: a helping of tinted moisturizer; a swipe of lip balm; and barely-there brows were all that was needed to get Michele Alessandro’s Gucci girls ready for the runway.
