A No Effort Beatrice Dalle At Holly Fulton
“It’s not effortless, it’s no effort!” said MAC makeup artist, Andrew Gallimore, backstage at the Holly Fulton show in the super sleek, chrome surroundings of the ME Hotel. Unsurprisingly for a London show, the look was Rock n Roll meets nineties grunge. The color palette was reflective of the predominantly red and black collection which featured pieces with a quirky lipstick print much like those used to create the Beatrice Dalle inspired makeup. In keeping with the natural skin trend seen at NYFW, complexions were kept youthful and fresh using MAC Mineralize Moisture Foundation and the Pro-Concealer where needed and finally set with a light touch of the Prep+Prime Powder.
“It’s about girls acting grown up and sexy with a “F*ck YOU!” attitude” continued an animated Gallimore. The top lash line and inner eye were lined with the Feline Kohl Pencil and Plush Lash Plush Black Mascara was worked in to the lashes for smoldering smokiness. Lastly a slick of the innovative, multi functional Pro-Eye Gloss in Black Sea was applied over the eye lid and left to “do what it wants to do. If it marks or streaks, it gives it a last night’s disco makeup vibe.”
Models’ lips were exaggerated into a wide “Beatrice” shape, using Pro-Longwear Lip Pencil in High Energy, an orange-tomato red and mattified using Pigment in Basic Red pressed down on to lips. Lips were lined in a darker red wine colored lip pencil and in a final homage to the French actress, strips of tape were placed at the center of front teeth and colored black to simulate a gap toothed look.
To complement the no effort Rock chick look, hairstylist Shon created unkempt, bedraggled up ‘dos applying styling spray from root to tip to give hair “unwashed body.” Hair was then knotted in to a bun just below the crown with the ends pulled out and feathered in to stiff tendrils. L’Oréal Paris Elnett Diamond Hold Spray was finally brushed through the front for added fix and to create a messy, textured feel.
