The beauty look selected for Rodarte’s fairytale runway show, which marked the 10th anniversary of the brand, was equally as dreamy as the fantastical clothes. Models stood in stately formation, toting bold, berry-stained lips against pale skin that was softened with metal flower adornments embellished with real orchids pinned behind the ears. The “don’t-mess-with-me look” was both ethereal and tough, as described by James Kaliardos—the makeup artist behind the dark lips at Rodarte on Tuesday.
To create the look, Kaliardos used the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Train Bleu (US $26; AED/SAR 96), which functions as the perfect vampy shade without leaning on being borderline gothic and off-putting. The transparent complexion was achieved with the Nars Soft Velvet Loose Powder (US $37; AED/SAR 136). A light shimmer shadow was dusted on the eyelids as well as on the cheekbones for an added dose of shine. Naughty and nice, it’s the kind of look that can take you from office to party-appropriate at lightening speed.
