Fashion Forward Fall 2016 showcased an array of beauty looks that were both avant-garde and wearable. Backstage, international makeup artists Vimi Joshi, Roberta Betti, and Michele Magnani led the M.A.C. Cosmetics team to create dramatic looks for each designer. From vampy lips and fresh skin to intricately woven plaits, there were plenty of striking trends. Click through the slides ahead for the Fashion Forward beauty looks that got us talking.
HUSSEIN BAZAZA
At the opening show, models were sent down the runway with manes center-parted and secured into low ponytails that ran down their spines. Their bronzed, contoured complexions featured sweeps of gold glitter on the eyelids that dazzled whenever they blinked.

TALLER MARMO
Coats of clear lipgloss were swiped across the models’ cheekbones, eyelids, and vampy lips to illuminate their faces and create a reflective, wet effect. Their damp, tangled tresses proved to be a strategic hairstyle, as the strands didn’t stick to the copious amounts of lipgloss smeared across their faces.

ZAYAN THE LABEL
Backstage, the models’ hair was worked into pretty, plaited topknots, which started as a reverse French braid at the nape of the neck before being twisted into a tight updo at the crown of the head. Makeup artists swirled pink blush on the cheeks and filled the lips with a deep burgundy lipstain before blotting it to leave a faint trace of color.

NASIBA HAFIZ
Black, graphic eyeliner and several coats of mascara made for a show-stopping look on the models’ otherwise bare faces at the Nasiba Hafiz runway show. A swoosh of kohl started at the inner corner of the eyes, and then veered well away from the lash line before being extended into an unconventional cat-eye.

BINT THANI
Sinister, inkpot lips contrasted against the models’ fresh, dewy complexions, and a hint of russet bronzer was daubed across the cheekbones to soften the overall look. Their sleek hair was raked back into tight ponytails, ensuring that the liquorice lips were the main focus.

THREE FIFTY NINE
Futuristic-looking models were sent down the runway with metallic silver eyelids, barely there lips, and hair twisted into multiple buns, which served as a playful nod to the ‘90s. The look was completed with graphic squares and rectangles in black, white, and blue painted on their foreheads that proved that face paint isn’t just for kindergarten kids.

AMATO by FURNE ONE
The spectacle that closed Fashion Forward Fall 2016 ended the season with a bang on the beauty front. Amato’s bewitched models were sent down the runway with heavily charcoaled eyes that extended into long, dramatic wings. A swoosh of red eye shadow covered the models’ entire under-eye area, while the lips and skin were kept hauntingly pale. A team of hairstylists from Sisters Beauty Lounge was equipped with heaps of hair extensions to curate the models swingy, waist-grazing curls.
