This season, the versatile shoe staple returns in rich fabrics, clean shapes, and on-trend embellishments. Style.com/Arabia discussed the trend with Level Shoes’ head buyer Alberto Oliveros, “Velvet dominated the runways for Fall 2016. The luxurious fabric was seen in nearly every designer collection,” he observed. “The velvet rendition of the bootie was a personal favorite of mine, and the Dries Van Noten styles are definitely must-haves this season,” he emphasized. In addition to velvet designs, heeled hiking boots—spotted on the Louis Vuitton catwalk and seen on stars like Selena Gomez and Alicia Vikander at the 2016 Met Gala—make for an edgy take on the trend.
