Vogue Arabia’s September 2022 issue is now out, and this month, the magazine celebrates the strength of none other than Hollywood icon Sharon Stone, who takes over its dual covers in looks by Dolce & Gabbana, and Zuhair Murad. The inside cover story, an interview with Syrian-American ex-CNN anchor Hala Gorani, comes brimming with hidden gems that share a light at the many achievements the star has enjoyed over the years, and the extreme challenges she has faced along the way too. During her candid chat with Gorani, Stone also opened up about the current climate in the United States, sharing her concerns over the new laws related to womens’ right to abortion.

As the duo discussed the #MeToo movement, another topic that made an appearance was that of the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade in the United States. “When they’re saying that rape victims have to have their baby, I think you have to be very clear that women’s rights are on pretty thin ice,” Stone said. “What’s happening now is the absolute, dramatic backlash to #MeToo.”

And how does one make it through this particular era? “I really grew up in the country, and if you get kidnapped and put in a hole in a barn by a hillbilly, that’s when you’re in real trouble,” Stone explained. “That’s kind of what’s happening now. We’re like in a hole in a barn with a bunch of hillbillies. The star continued on to break it down further, sharing that the backlash that #MeToo has received is like a “rabid animal: you step back from it and, you know, wait until someone puts it down.”
