Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2017: Everything You Need To Know

From who’s walking, to who isn’t walking, and details of the fantasy bra, performers and themes, here’s your definitive guide to the Victoria’s Secret show 2017.

When is the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2017 happening?

The CBS broadcast of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2017 catwalk spectacular will air on the network on November 28 at 10pm EST, and will include pink-carpet interviews, model profiles and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the show, as well as the runway presentation of brand-new winged creations, lingerie and the much-anticipated collaboration with Balmain.

Where is it happening?

Last year the Angels jetted to Paris, and previous shows have taken place in New York, London, Los Angeles, Miami and Cannes. This year, Victoria’s Secret is tapping into its growing Chinese market and staging the event in Shanghai at the Mercedez-Benz Arena. Unlike former years, which saw models fly to the location in a private jet, this year, due to the distance, the runway stars will meet in the Pudong district.

Who will be performing?

Former One Direction member and Miss Vogue pin-up Harry Styles has been booked for the night, alongside Miguel, Jane Zhang and Leslie Odom Junior.

Which models are walking in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2017?

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2017 models include Angel Candice Swanepoel will make her return to the famous winged runway after taking a year’s hiatus to have her first child. The new mother, who was snapped up by Victoria’s Secret in 2007, crowned an official Angel in 2010 and honoured with wearing the $10 million fantasy bra in the 2013 show, will join fellow Angels Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes, Josephine Skriver, Lais Ribeiro, Martha Hunt, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio, Stella Maxwell, and Taylor Hill. A host of new faces, including Grace Bol, Vanessa Moody and Dasha Khlystun, will also join a host of models who have walked for the lingerie giant before, but have yet to be granted Angel status. See the list of every model walking below.

Who isn’t walking?

Though it was announced in August that Behati Prinsloo would return to the runway alongside fellow South African beauty Swanepoel, the model took to Instagram in September to tell fans that she is expecting her second child with husband Adam Levine. “I promised Behati I wouldn’t say a word until she did,” senior creative at Victoria’s Secret, Ed Razek, commented via his own social media. “Bee, I kept my promise! We will miss you in Shanghai! Love you and very happy for you, Adam and Dusty!”

Why isn’t Kendall Jenner walking?

Though the model and reality star has walked in the brand’s two previous shows, saying, “it’s always been a dream of mine,” Jenner will not join BFF Bella Hadid in Shanghai. The reason? She’s an ambassador for Italian lingerie brand La Perla, so it is thought that it would be a conflict of interest for her.

Why isn’t Gigi Hadid walking?

Hadid took to Twitter just one week before the show to share the news that she would not be walking with her seven million followers. “I’m so bummed I won’t be able to make it to China this year. Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!! Can’t wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can’t wait for next year! 🙂 x”, the model posted on her account. The shock announcement follows her previous statement on Instagram that it was “a dream come true” to be asked to walk for the lingerie brand for the third time. It is thought that Visa issues are the reason for her absence. Models from Russia have also had similar difficulties obtaining Chinese Visas and will not be joining the VS team in Shanghai.

Who are the new Victoria’s Secret models for 2017?

Around 400 hopefuls from agencies in London, Paris, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Argentina and the USA attended callbacks at the New York headquarters in August. “You can recognise in an instant that a model is going to become a significant presence within the brand,” casting director John Pfeiffer told Vogue UK exclusively at the time, before disclosing his list of newcomers to look out for come show day.

Who will wear the Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra?

To be chosen as the wearer of the Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra is seen as incredibly prestigious among the Angels. Lais Ribeiro will wear this year’s US $2 million Mouwad design, which is handset with diamonds, yellow sapphires and blue topaz in 18-karat gold. The Brazilian beauty will follow in the footsteps of Gisele Bündchen, Tyra Banks, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, and Adriana Lima by wearing the Champagne Nights Fantasy Bra, which, she says, makes her “feel so powerful”.

Is there a theme?

Pink! Glitter! More pink! Confetti! The show will be split into “themes” or categories of lingerie, such as sportswear and nightwear, however, the over-arching picture is a glossy girl gang in provocative, playful outfits that show off the fruits of twice-daily workout regimes. Will this year’s show acknowledge the culture in which the show is staged in? With arguably the most diverse line-up the brand has enlisted in recent years expect the message behind the pink haze to be hammering home female empowerment, as well as the benefits of even spray tanning.
