Amongst the many highlights of Paris Couture Week, Balenciaga’s creative director Demna Gvasalia showcased Vetements’ latest offering, the label he co-founded. Laced with a healthy dose of humor, a cast of non-models––or as Suzy Menkes called them, “every kind of archetypal stereotype”––took to the runway in the Vetements Fall 2017 collection. Marking Vetements’ first wedding dress design, “The Bride” closed the show in a voluminous silhouette complete with a veil overlay, nodding to Haute Couture Fashion Week.

Since its debut Fall 2014 collection, we’ve seen the brand champion Juicy Couture track pants, sold-out, off-beat hoodies, and deconstructed denims that individuals clamor to get their hands on. Our regional fashion aficionados weigh-in on what they think will be the star takeaways from Gvasalia’s latest offering, and what they will be coveting from the lineup.

Saudi-based Lebanese artist Ali Cha’aban tells Vogue Arabia: “I’d simply own a Vetements piece because it reflects my individuality as an artist. I like to retain a certain identity in my work, that is raw and untethered. The attention to detail is so uncanny and yet so seamless and minimal. So normal that it’s abnormal.” He notes look 28 as a winner in his book.

The glossy royal blue puffer jacket was a popular piece that caught the attention of many style influencers. Kuwaiti fashion blogger Taiba Al Nassar of The Urban Analyst shares: “The highlight of the collection for me this season is the outerwear. My favorites have to be the royal blue patent puffer and the floor length trench coat.” Meanwhile, Qatari Instagram personality Abdulla Al-Abdulla adds: “Gvasalia is always pushing the boundaries. This season I’m left divided, so I couldn’t say I love a certain look––a piece here and there. However, my favorite is the shiny blue puffer.”

The reconstructed denim jacket and jeans with the brand’s logo embossed on the front top Lina Mustafa’s shopping list. “These two are just standout pieces that translate well when taken off the runway and turned into an everyday look,” says the founder and buyer of Abu Dhabi-based concept boutique The Luxury Arcade. “I’ve been a fan of Vetements from the start. I love the approach they take in terms of their strategy to show earlier, their collaborations with brands, and the styling for their runway looks.”
