Tinted Shades Dominate the Spring 2017 Sunglasses Trend

The Spring 2017 shows were washed with bold colors, where designers imagined monochrome designs in saturated shades. The tonal spirit seeped into sunglasses, with tinted hues dominating the trend. Whether aviator, oversized, or cat-eye styles, sunglasses came in an array of color-lensed options. Balenciaga and Céline played it cool with blue on plastic frames, while Gucci and Versace imagined spring through rose-tinted sunglasses. Across the spectrum however, orange and yellow-tinged lenses took the lead. Marni offered saucer-sized frames and Mulberry proposed wrap-around forms. Roberto Cavalli took the retro route with large, square-shaped Lucite styles. In the age of social media, it was only a matter time before sunglasses filtered our everyday view of the world, too.
