Give the Green Light to Pantone’s Color of the Year

Global color authority Pantone has announced Greenery 15-0343 as color of the year for 2017. Uplifting and bright, the company describes the color as a “yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew.” With Cerulean Blue as the first selected color in 2000, Greenery succeeds last year’s release of Rose Quartz and Serenity – the twin colors that are inspired by gender fluidity. This year’s tint is symbolic of hopefulness and new beginnings.

While the optimistic color is nod to influencing trends in décor, design and fashion that we will see growing in the upcoming year, the color already made a solid presence amid designer Spring 2017 collections. Creative director Demna Gvasalia showcased the vibrant color in the form of floral dresses in his sophomore collection for Balenciaga . At Emilio Pucci the acidic hue was worked in the form a boxy cut dress. Meanwhile, at Balmain and Versace models took to the runway in monochrome designs swathed in the zesty tone.
