Nathalie Trad, the Lebanese accessories designer and class of 2016 DDFC/Vogue Fashion Prize finalist, unveiled her Fall 2017 collection titled Revelry of Rêverie at Paris Fashion Week. Known for her signature geometric silhouettes beloved by Amal Clooney, Queen Rania, Nicole Kidman, and a bevy of street style mavens, Trad took a leap forward with her latest lineup. Like mini art sculptures, the new collection takes shape through new forms. Cube bags topped with a chunky chain are wrapped in mother of pearl and graphic cylinder clutches are accented with thick velvet ribbon, while a shimmery structured clutch is gripped by an embedded cutout handle. Leather box bags make their debut; staying true to her brand ethos, the sturdy number comes encrusted with shell embellishments on the front.

Trad continues to fuse natural materials that are accented with hardware. “The richness of shell mirrors our inspiration and is in line with the vision we have for the clutches. We love to complement it with other materials, such as wood, resin, copper, brass, and stainless steel, that end up harmonizing beautifully,” she tells Vogue Arabia. Speaking about new techniques, Trad shares: “This season, we played with new inlay methods. The shades of rose and teal are achieved by adding a layer of color under an iridescent white hammer shell, allowing us to reach this rich and complex hue.”
